Im going to be having a new galv chassis and galv bulkhead fitted to my 300tdi this year. In relation to the bulkhead, rather than just have all my old parts put back on, I was wondering if some bits ought to be replaced for new?

I was thinking of getting new wiper boxes and a new heater fitted. Are there any other parts that should be replaced whilst the bulkead is being reassembled?

I know the list could be endless, but I assume some parts are difficult to access once its been reassembled.

nothing is particularly difficult to get at, even with the dash panel on - but while you have easy access why not do the clutch/bearing/arm - crank seal etc

if you were planing on fitting new, but cheap parts, you'll be best off leaving whats fitted where it is

If you swap the wiper boxes don't mix TD5 and TDi ones as they have different wheels in 'em - you won't get the full wiper sweep with a TDi motor/gear assy and TD5 wheel boxes.
Also, if you want to keep the fresh air vents working take the gauze off the bulkhead before galvanising as it pretty much fills all the holes up!

Bulkhead to windscreen seal, windscreen 'hinge' seals, door hinge seals, door hinge captive nuts, heater box seals, vent seals, pedal boxes seals, grommets, various nuts and bolts, captive nuts fur the wings......
;)

If you're spending that amount of dosh I wouldn't put any consumables on that are less than perfect.

If the wipers and heater work well, why replace them when they can be serviced?

Thanks for the replies everyone. Ill make a note of all the parts mentioned.

Im buying a bulkhead that is already galvanised, but my heater doesnt work (not sure what the fault is yet) and my wipers sometimes have a mind of their own.

Im paying someone to do the swapover, so rather than put some of the old parts back on, i was thinking of replacing with genuine LR parts. I didnt want to have a new bulkhead fitted and then find out I had missed an ideal opportunity to replace certain parts.

Many thanks
