ordered my new alternator, give the parts company all my details...
Model, year, and vin numbers.. asked if it ok for my vehicle, reply was 'yes'!
so i payed for it , they posted it, and i got it today.. guess what!! yep you got it, wrong one!! it all looks the same as my old one, but the plug connection wireing is a 2 pin on the new one, and mine is a 3 pin?

What the fecks wrong with these "so called parts companies" you give em all the info, details ect, and they still get it wrong!!:mad:

So ive got to post this feckin heavy thing back to them, what fookin inconvenience, and 'i' have to pay the feckin postage fer something that
was'nt my fault!! more cost to me, & still without an alternator!!

Trouble these days, nobody gives a fock anymore! they just want yer money
and **** you, they dont give a toss how much it ****s you about, as long
as they get what they want.. MONEY!! your hard earnt money!!
****in countrys full o crooks, ****ers un tossers!!
I say lets get back to the way it was, when you went to the shop, chatted
to the guy behind the counter.. he understood what you wanted ect.. and
you had the part in front of you, and you could see if it was right or not!!
and get information from him aswell!!

Those were the days..

You could always have gone to your local shop etc:rolleyes::p

This countrys usless when it comes to perchasing goods.. "it aint in stock"
"we've got to order it" "we aint open on a wednesday" "we close early Thursdays" and all that ****..

Why do you think big companys like Tesco, Asda, ect are sucsessfull?
because the fookers are always open! thats why! now wonder small buisnesses hit the wall in a recession, you cant sell feck all if yer closed, can yer!!
In America, the car parts stores are like supermarkets, massive stores with
shelves full of every part you could ever want, you can by a hemmie big block
at 3am if yer want, they NEVER close!!!

Someone on here was moaning about there credit card had been cloned..
well... ****in good job, thats what i say!! and i hope it gets on the increase,
so we have to get back to spending "Real" fookin money and have a "one to
one" with a real person when we perchase goods!!:blabla::p

Another thing... Wait till yer have a pill fer yer dinner, instead of steak un chips!!
Frightning thing is... it will happen!!

(I supose this should have gone on "Anything goes".. D'oh)

happy christmas anyway!!!! Really-does it matter?

Is it just a connector mismatch,

How many wires on the alt?

In fairness to the monkey behind the parts desk, sometimes the stock item is the right part code but wrong part,

I know that doesn't help with the cost of sending it back.

The sooner Tesco start doing alts the better

I think you is full of contradictions, you want to go back to personalised service like years ago, yet you want superstore availability? the two will never go hand in hand.

You quote U.S. Well you are in the UK where people have a life, and want quality time to spend socialising, not working 24/7 for pittance.

Everything is evolving, we need to keep up and if getting our parts by mail-order is to be the way of the future and sometimes goes wrong then so-be-it, overall we'll be in front I'm sure.

I have the same problems with parts, the vehicles I buy are allways the year change models or changeover models or they changed em that year......so what you sayin then.....it could be that or it could be this....

Where's tha man in the brown smock and the pencil behind his ear who knew all about cars then.
Half these people coldn't give a fook if it's right or not , just send it back they say but forget that you might need the vehicle for work.

Too many model varients these days I suppose, too much choice, but with computers a sales person should be able to pinpoint every part correctly on any vehicle going off the reg no.
ut then we rely on the man givin a fook as he copies the part no off the screen.

You have my sympathy mate:)

I always get one to one personal service at any of the local motorfactors I buy from, even from the dealerships.
Just take a description or your old part to any motorfactor and they'll find you the exact part or a suitable equivalent.

Mail order is a faceless way of shopping so I agree that noone gives a sh*t about you when buying that way.

So what do you do for a living ?

Well if Microcat, says the cambelt kit for a certain 300tdi should be early sort and when you open it up it happens to be the later one you can't really blame the guy who's looking at the same data as you... happened to me about a month back doing me mates 90, apparently the changeover number quoted by landrover is only any good +/- 50... in this period there are new and old mixed up completely, given that - what chance has anyone got???
