hiya

firstly sorry tried to change the title or delete post in order i could put a new one up but couldnt

im about to buy a pair of rear struts and rear springs for my freelander

have been looking online etc to see if there are other components that go into the construction of the struts, springs etc, covers, stops etc, but cant seem to find a decent part breakdown picture or supplier that shows all the expolded views

ive got an ipad 4 and some of the usual microcat dont seem to open and was wondering if u guys would be so kind to help me with any links etc.

all the usual ones only show struts and springs

just dont wish to order the springs and struts only to find there are internal parts also required

hope that makes sense ?????

thks

Internal components? For Springs and struts?

No idea what yer on about!!!!

If and indeed hopefully you mean bushes, retainers, nuts n bolts?
Would it not be too crazy an idea to use the ones off the old units. Photograph them if your worried about replacing them for new ones.........!??

hiya

i didnt think it made sense

when i put the spring on are there any sleeves, collers , seals, etc that sit on the strut so when u slide the spring over the strut if there is anything that needs to go on.

when ive looked online for the parts etc there only show pictures of the bare strut and spring and nothing else,

ive managed to find the top mounts, bottom nuts and bolts etc,

my only reason about looking into it, as i cant do things like this anymore and my son and friends are going to help me, if when they come off dont wish to then have to leave everything off just incase there is a small component broken on the old u it,

but of course if that happens then so be it

was wondering actually if it would help others to take pics of the struts etc all in bits to show every component etc

thks

I can see where your comming from.

But worse case scenario, if you find a broken part, apart from the inconvenience, how hard would it be get another part... Shirley there must be someone who could take you?

Definitely photograph every stage. (Have a look at Busters photo tours)
T'is a wonder there isn't summat similar for freebies really!

HIPPO! pull yer finger out! :)

Talking of whom...... Might be worth you p.ming him.

It'll do them good and serve them well in later life. My youngest son looked absolutely terrified when he helped me do a diff oil change. He didn't know I could swear for 1/4hr without repeating myself. He's living on an island now!

It's unlikely you will need any extra parts tbh.
19 = Top mount. The bush can wear
21= Spring Assistor. This can fall to pieces if it been overloaded often.
22= Dust Cover. I'v never seen a damaged one but anything is possible.
Good luck with it ;)

hiya thks, my son is 22 years old and wish to teach him that when he does to maintain his own car and learn how things work, he doesnt know anything about cars but has common sense, the same way i wish to help me the same that my dad did,

thks for the parts id, will see if i can find the part numbers etc, found the too mounts etc but not the others, if they are cheap will just get them so i then dont have to worry when we are in the midst of winter

thks so much again
