hiya guys

i didnt want anyone else to go through the nightmare i have gone through trying to find the correct part numbers for this switch and just wished to share in case it's of some use to others.

The curved cruise control master on-off switch fits on the instrument panel on the left hand side above the rear fog light switch

From - Vin number 2A000001, it will be in black

part number is YUH000070LNF

Cost £5.90 plus vat and P & P

Available from main land rover dealers

It is not as per picture on the microcat cd or main dealer diagrams, but will show the correct switch required in your owners manual

will put a picture of the switch in my instrument panel tommorow
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The square type switch that fits in the middle of the instrument panel is

part number YUH100440KML

this switch is up to Vin number 1A999999

just hope that this may help others

im just awaiting to get a second hand cruise control ecu and will then let you know if by fitting the OE equipment works or not

All the best

Hey Gary, thanks for your reply, and for inspiring me to go down the cruse control retro fit route. I found this likely looking plug (see photo) under my seat this afternoon  So I've now dived in and just bought a master switch from ebay via the US for just under $15 including postage. Now need to find an scb100211 and the paddle switch.

Incidentally I've found two different paddle switches one is YUH100740LNF with mode switch on audio for £50 the other is YUH100751LNF without mode switch on audio £125. Not sure what the difference is apart from £75. Do you now if it's possible to buy just the cruise switch?

Will keep you all posted!

hiya

glad you found the switch ok,

i personally bought a complete steering wheel off ebay i think i paid around £50 for it, came with the audio and cruise controls, please make sure that it also comes with the green lead that connects to the main plug.

regarding the removal of the air bag i turned off the ignition, removed the keys and left it for half an hour before i removed the air bag.

it was simple plug and play.

where abouts is your master on/off switch, because one goes into the centre console and is straight and the other where mine is goes into the instrument panel and is a curved switch.

mine is a 2002 td4 auto 3 door

i will help you all i can

all the best

Thanks for the advice re the lead and green plug. I've seen a few for sale without them. Though I'm quite handy with a soldering iron I'm hoping not to go down that route. Though looking at the price differences may be forced to. :(

I managed to find a scb100211 from a 2002 td4 freelander off eBay in the US. Initially the guy said he didn't ship to UK but I got in touch with him and he was happy to, he's prob making a bit on the postage. It's cost me just over £40 including postage, which is still a hell of a lot cheaper than anywhere I've seen in the UK so I'm well happy with that! :D

Just a waiting game for the bits to arrive now.

Cheers for your help so far. It's really appreciated.

Gary, hats off to you sir!

Got my hands on all the parts. Fitted them today and now have Cruise Control working. Hardest part was fitting the paddle switch onto the steering wheel as there was no hole where the switch should go. 1 hacksaw blade and two minutes later the switch fitted in perfectly. I did get a switch with the green connector on the cables, but this wasn't required as all cables were already in the steering wheel. All I needed to do was connect the small black connector containing the blue green and orange wires, to the matching connector on the wheel. It's all very obvious.
Took it for a spin, hit the dashboard switch, hit res then set and I was cruising!

Total time taken, fitting dash switch, removing airbag from steering wheel, sawing hole and connecting paddle switch and connecting cc ecu, about 25 mins.

Couldn't have done it without your help.

Respect.

Hoppo.

Hopo, was that using a new Cruise control unit or a used one, I'm trying to source a used one because they seem to be "plug & play" but haven't heard of anyone retrofitting a new one & it it working straight out of the box.
Going to the Pyrenees in 2 weeks & cruise would be very welcome on the long drag down through France.
Mines a 2003 facelift TD4 HSE by the way :)

When you hit res or set to you get any lights on the dash?

Matacaibo;

I got my hands on a second hand one, for the very reason that it wouldn't need re-programming. I've read through all cruise control threads on here several times, and it seems of the handful of people that got it working all used a secondhand unit. I got mine from eBay in the US. The ad said that they didn't ship to the UK, though I got in touch with them and offered to pay the postage and they agreed. In total the unit cost including postage just under £50. Still a hell of a lot cheaper than any I have seen for sale in the UK.

Ad cooper;

I took it out on the road, got up to 60 mph. Then I turned on the dashboard switch. At this point the handbook states that's all you need to do is press the set button to engage cruise control. I found that first of all I had to press the res button which turned on the dashboard light, then pressing set would engage the cruise control. All then functions as it states in the handbook, except after touching the brake, the handbook states that to re-engage the cruise control all you have to do is press the res button. This doesn't work for me, as soon as I then press the res button it turns off the dash light and I have to re-set the dashboard switch to re-engage the cruise control, or after touching the brake, I don't touch the res button and just hold the set button to get back to my cruising speed. It seems that no speed is stored in the memory. I hope that makes sense.

Thanks Hopo,
Just missed one in the USA, it went for $99 + $15 for courrier to UK, works out at about £ 75, still a bargain, hopefully I'll catch the next one ;)

Thanks for that that's the same as mine and I'm sure the light should go green but mines always orange. Not sure how to get I to work right? Any ideas? My ecu was new from a rover place.

b) cruise control console switch YUH100440KML

c) ECU SCB100201 or SCB100211 or SCB100212

cheers..

Hi Gary,

I am looking for the switch but can't find it on my '02 TD4 Auto. The pic didn't help yet. I only found wiring coming down from the seat and some wires under the carpet but no plug coming with it.

Kind Regards

Matthias

hiya, the on off switch on mine is above the fog light on the instrument panel pinicle and not on the centre console, if u go to a land rover dealer they will be able to order it for u, look behind the blank and the wires should be there

under the drivers seat u should see a slit, if u rake aeound u will find a wire tucked under the carpet, carefuly plug the wire and a small plug should be on the end of it,

mines a former commercial 2002 , 3 door, td4 auto so i would assume it should be there

have another look , plud dont forget to buy a second hand cruise control ecu as it will be pre activated and will just be the case of plug and play, all u need then is the paddle switch for ur steering wheel, i actually bought a new steering wheel with the ive and cruise control paddles on it, think i paid around 60 quid if memory serves me right

hope u get on ok, but u must find the wire under the carpet first and in theory being the same year as mine should be there

let us know how u get on

all the best

have u found all the wires first, behine the blank on the centre console and the other wire under the carpet, if there not there it wont work

the v6 has 2 x ecus and the td4 auto has one, its a small grey box u need , if u check the previous posts ive listed the parts numbers, but plse make sure all the wiring is there first

hope that helps

Hiya,
I ordered a 2nd hand ECU one but not like the ones I saw here but scb100190 as far as I remember. It said on the add that I could use it as well. Hope that works. The paddle switch for the steering wheel the mechanic installed already as it was there for the gearbox (other thread). He said for 2.50Euros, the more it wouldn't be.

What about the switch, I'll have a look. I assumed as well when I read the thread that it might be in. My one is called GS, I couldn't really figure yet what it refers to. That switch should be in already, or am I wrong?

I'll check if I can find the cable somehow.

Kind Regards
Matthias

Hi Gary,

shall this be the switch as per photo? In my handbook p. 91 it shows it in the same place as you described it.
Kind Regards
Matthias
