Hi Guys, having an annoying rattle in my 2008 TDV8, tracked it down to the rear parcel shelf mounting trim.
have tried stuffing bits of rubber etc to wedge it tight, no good, it looks to me as if the trim mounting is loose, I am tempted to to try to remove the trim panel above it (the one with the speaker in)
or the boot side panel below to get access.
trouble is, I cant see how these panels come off and I don`t want to force them and break them!
any body ever done a similar job?

the panels are only clipped in place.

and yes they can snap off.

just need to be gentle and firm at the same time ! lol

they just pull off !

No, they are the same as the older ones. There are a couple of screws that hold the trims in place - or at least there should be! Perhaps thats why there is a rattle...?

Thanks so much for your help, I attach a pictureof the rattling bit, it appears to be the bit in the middle that the parcel shelf slides into and rests on. I thought if I could remove the panels above and below, (one above with the speaker in, and the carpeted boot one below) I could see if any screws . bolts had come loose?

I was experiencing the same problem and I found this post without a solution. I fixed my parcel shelf rail this past weekend and wanted to share for clarity in case others need help.

First pull the rear upper speaker trim panel on the rear piller (from the inside edge of the pillar) toward the front of the truck and slightly toward the outside of the truck. Pull with firmly but not in a rapid motion that might snap the plastic pin.

After the pillar trim is loosened, then tighten the loose bolt with an 8mm wrench. You can get a 1/4" drive socket wrench in there as well if you pull the trim back far enough. Snap the trim back in and enjoy a rattle free ride.

Hope it helps.
