I had a slide on sheet ice and took out 2 concrete bollards. Any other car and it would be a very different story! See attached pictures.
I had the vehicle checked mechanically and structurally and it's ok. But the front wing (LHS and rear panel (behind the wheel) need major repair or replacement. Anybody have advice on repair?
The issue is that I live in Mongolia. There is a Landrover Dealer but they don't do body work repairs. And few body shop places can deal with aluminium.
I've seen and read about replacing the front wing - I could get one shipped out from UK - but I'm not sure about replacing the rear panel - a bigger job I think.
Any advice on repairing or replacing would be gratefully received.
Thanks

Hello and :welcome2:

I reckon they will knock out reet enough, BFH and some blocks of wood should see you right for the rear, the front i would whip it off and knock it out off the landy.

if the look is still not as you want you could stick some chequer plate over the areas, match them up round the landy and you will have a bit more protection for the next time.:rolly:

Hi Ian and :welcome2:

A soft faced hammer and a dolly will straighten your panels, but it all depends on:
a/. how patient you are with doing it yourself, and
b/. if you are OK with a few dents where the metal has stretched.

Remember if it ain't dented and it don't leak it ain't really a fully-fledged Landy! :D:D

It's probably the smartest looking car in the region as it is! Why not just reprotect (etch prime) the bare areas and leave it as it is?!

Thanks for all your advice. Got it done with the help of a local panel beater. Doesn't look too bad! It's important for your car to look good here, or at least shiny!

Mick the Builder, as for life in Mongolia...where do I start! Always expect the unexpected. Things usually take ages to get done. It's cold (-30C is normal) in the winter and warm in the summer. There's not much black top road, and even that is full of potholes. The rest of the country is a dream for exploring. Deserts, river crossings, mountains, steppe, snow - the choice is yours!
