Trying to decide what colour to paint my series 3, it was horrible green but is now beige halfords high build primer. Thinking NATO green ? Going to roller it on. What do people think?

Masai red, the proper colour for all land rovers and the colour both of mine are :D

Ignoring the colour question though, roller painting can achive a perfectly good result and I have rollered painted both land rovers with good results, and am currently roller painting the tinwork on a fordson. There is a certain technique required to not overwork the paint and have just the right amount of paint on a foam roller but you can get a very good result

Up here in rural Northumberland it was job dependant - the unwritten rule apparently that farmers had Marine Blue and forestry lads had the Bronze Green. Always had a soft spot for the Russet Brown they used for the later County SW - goes well with the limestone wheels and roof.

They look good did you add a bit of white spirit to paint, I have done this in past and helps get a shiny finish

I had undercoated it in grey ship paint some years ago, all I did was wash the panels down with white spirit then put the green on, fairly heavy load on the brush and long strokes. Worked a treat!

I had military boat paint on it as a primer, the grey stuff as it looks in my profile pic, it was a matt finish and was a perfect undercoat. Am lucky in that all my panels are straight. All i did for prep was wash it then clean each panel with white spirit. I have to say that the quality of the paintman paint is fabulous, it gives a beautiful gloss finish.
