its now finally time for the repaint as the lockup is now clear of other projects..

ive decided to go for a 2k paint purely for its drying time and overall durability..

ive read a few freds and done some google searchs, with the etch primer what would pepes recommend? there seems to be a few available, etch primer/filler......etch primer wash....acid etch primer..

what have pepes used and found gave good results?

im intending to remove all paint entirely from both front doors as its all flaking off and there is lovely shiny aluminium underneath
theres a couple of the usual bubbles on the body which need removing

will scotch briting the existing paintwork give sufficient bond to the new paint or will priming entire existing paint finish be required..

im intending to remove everything that i can from the bodywork including the windscreen as i have new rubbers for that..

i can have access to the lockup for as long as poss so i dont mind spending the time to get the best end result.

any help or pointers would be good..i dont intend doin it again

just had mine done gone from red to gloss black used nexa prime coat p275-124 activator and primecoat p565-625 etch did a great job if your handy with a spray gun didn't put the top coat on i let expert do that also its pretty expensive, but i got mina as a one off, both activator and primer for £40.

Hi Wiltshire.

If you intend to take all your door's back to bare ali, then you will need to use a etch primer, or a better still a Fillform Corrision Restiant Primer. Then you can use a 2K primer from the paint company from which you are planning to use the topcoat. As for the original paint you can scotch it making sure it is mat, otherwise it is going to blister off one day. Seems like you want te do a proper job so take your time, and remember the prepwork is the most important thing.
There are some other very important things. Always use a recomended mask with the right filters. In the corrision restiant primer there are lots of cromates, so take care. These are very very bad for yer health.
I did my 130 last year and used 1.5 LT of primer and 3 LT of colour, no etch primer as the original paint work was 100% . This is including hardeners and thinners. Yer can better wait till it warms up a bit to get the best results. If yer want anymore info PM me
Good Luck Ter Yer
