Hi guys

As i was looking at ordering a defender 200tdi intercooler hose kit today off ebay i looked on the paddocks web site first and got looking at their intercooler up-grades ( same as std but thicker ) and just wondered if anyone else has one and is it worth having :)

I got a similair one from ebay and to be honest it did make a tadge difference, but as the old one was falling apart thats probably more the reason why.
Got my silicone hoses from ebay, still good 3 ish years later

unless your going down the hybrid turbo route a better than standard working intercooler isnt needed

Yeah its just that i have noticed that the fins on the back of my intercooler are quite badly damaged, i have a 300tdi intercooler in the garage that looks in better condition but needs cleaning out then saw these and thought would I be better buying one of these instead :)

The standard intercooler is plenty for a normal TD5 running stock boost pressure.
Only worth upgrading if you are going for a remap that requires higher boost but you will also need a black box to allow the higher boost pressures.

Of course if the prices match up with a standard intercooler and your is knackered and needs replacing anyhow then fit the larger one so you have the option to remap later.

Any reason you couldnt fit a fmic from say an evo or the saab tid .... Seem to be able to pick up removed decent nick ones for buttons off ebay?

Seems to be popular upgrade for the straight line power hungry.

Defender intercoolers seem pricy.- are they more robust than general car ones ?

My intercooler looks like it was involved in a car crash ill be honest.
