Before I go ordering, anyone bought any brake bits off Paddocks? They alright?

I need the imperial ends for the pipes, and I might need a new splitter box. I just don't want em to turn up and find they're a loada crap.

Other option is go over to Landy dealer in Bedford and ask them to order the bits and post em to us

The thready brake pipe bits on my 90 were imperial (UNF) an I got them from my local car spares place. UNF was introduced in the 70s. Dunno what they would have bin before that, possibly BSP. I definitely wunt get Paddocks, Craddocks or anyoneelse other than the OEM seals.

Order the bits you need from the main dealer mate. Been down the pattern brake route and the ones I had wouldn't be fit for a push bike. Chances are you are running a single line braking system on your series so there will be no backup e.g split system front rear split. Of corse there is always that fantastic handbrake as a back up so long as you have about a mile of straight open road with no cars on it in front of you:eek:

Fitted a Pads referb kit to my 2a (single system) about 2 years ago and i have no problems.

I got all the "ends" from local motofactors, just took a old pipe end down with me to make sure.

I also invested in a pipe flaring kit (£20) and a roll of break pipe ( 5m for £6).

I think you will be lucky to find a spliter valve as they are quit rare now but if you need one try the Landrover orphanage or Dunsfold.

But in general i do agree with the boys and try and go for original parts where poss.

In that case, i'll go to the main dealers in Bedford. Only reason I wanted a new splitter unit is cause mine is pretty rusted up. The old ends that go into it should come out though if I put it in the vice and carefully persuade it. With an emphasis on carefully :p

I've got the pipe and everything, it's just a case of getting the ends, I bought a rear brake hose (the one going from the splitter if I remember correctly) from one of those copy companies, and the bloody thing is about 2 inches short!
Thing is, I'm 14, so I can't exactly drive anywhere to get these parts. This is the reason its taking so long to get everything done!
Of course, there's always all the other stuff on my back, mower restorations, got 2 Autotrucks to finish off, so a never ending supply of restoration projects!
Anyway, thanks for all your feedback, i'll bear it all in mind.
Regards Lew.
