Why? (shrug) It's not like either of those have the horse power to make the clutch slip.
Have seen them on tuned V8s and they will eat the flywheel after a while.

This is what I understood to be a paddle clutch
I think you are thinking of paddle shift
al see next week after this sundays meeting see if i finaly kill the clutch. i looked at i a few weeks ago when i melted the thrust bearing to it and looked as if it had a few more meetings in it but woundererd if it would last longer a paddle clutch . as the sj i have had it in for 13months and never slips

Whats a meeting? Play day? Trial? Or other?? Does it involve muddy water? Are you using a wading plug?
As has been said there really is no need for a paddle clutch on a Series Land Rover. Paddle clutches are designed to grip more as they get hotter and a lot of stop start driving can turn them into an on/off switch.........not ideal for most off road applications.

sorted been looking on net then rung the local clutch referb place and he can make me an heavy duty one cheers for comments i am new to this just want to have a laff on a weekend going either laning or play days wich at present trying to arrange to buy the site for the day at ashby will post when i now more

There's a hole in the bottom of the bell-housing 'kid. vents the chamber.
When you go wading there is a bolt you re supposed to screw into it to stop the bell-housing filling with water & muck, which will wreck the clutch plates!
Its an agge old right of passage to learn about it 'the hard way' by dunking your clutch in crud and not only having to replace the plates and release bearing, but clean all the crap out the chamber first!
As said.... IF you have a decent clutch AND use the wading plug, standard clutch is more than adeqete and has advantages over other types in as much as you gat more 'feel' from it, which is useful for feeding in the power at low speeds etc!
