Scanning ad's over the last couple of days and it would seem that good P38 diesels are selling for more than I paid for mine 4.5 years ago. Could just be the winter premium I suppose. Certainly the lack of depreciation makes it a very cheap car to run.:D:D:D
 
Spot on Datatek......in the last few weeks even in our neck of the woods, a few more of them on the road.

Nothing like the tea leaf readers to create havoc amongst the gullible public!

Both our 38's cost us 5 k each both around 99k on the clock, but with history and the condition they are both in cosmetic and mechanically its worth it .

I see so many from lets be honest 800-3000 pounds and so many with problems ( mostly unsolved) you can see why the 5 grand mark for one that's been looked after is about right

You in most cases only get what you pay for .

I wouldn't let mine go for less than 5k
It wouldn't be worth it :)
Time and money spent keeping it tip top .
 
Mine depreciated by 51p a day from start to end which wasn't bad :)
Aren't parts becoming more expensive though..?
How're the petrol models doing?
 
New water pump and standard servicing aside - I've done over 30,000 faultless miles in my £2K 99 4.6V8 so far and enjoyed every one of them!

PS keep crushing those "troublesome" V8s, in ten years time the last Rover designed live-axled Range Rover fitted with a proper Rover engine will be worth a mint!

The Phoenix will arise from the ashes! Ok, maybe a gold plated duck, but yeah, they do seem to be holding price at the moment. V8's not as well but over 4 years I've spent tons more money on maintaining 'backup' vehicles in case the V8 breaks #fail

LPG'd V8's tend to go for the same sort of money as equivalent diesels from what i can see.
I was offered 5 1/2 k for mine earlier this year but to me it's worth far more. I like to think i will never sell it, even if i do upgrade to a later model. P38's represent fantastic value for money right now despite their problems.

Not sure "upgrade" is the right word.................?

Ditto, if I bought another daily driver I'd use it as an excuse to pull the motor and overhaul it with a squeaky new top-hat liner block and then keep it as a pay and play toy/winter hack as long as it'll last.
