got a strange one my p38 v8 wont start no engine light on dash turn key and it comes up as engine disabled press key fob i have done that nothing tried to solve with nanocom got no faults tried to reset with eka code on the door not worked tried the becm disabled immobiliser still nothing could it be becm or door lock micro switch just been parked up since may as cant afford to keep chucking money
into it just want one last try but run out of ideas im in poole dorset
 
If it says "Engine disabled" there is a loss of sync between the BECM and the engine ECU, as it's a V8 I can't tell you how to resync it but Nanocom can do it.
 
Does the fob open the car using the buttons?
Does the key open all the doors if used in the door lock?

i have tried to resync says its done but still the same was starting up ok did a bit of welding with battery disconnected when put lead back on total dead then nanocom cant reset anything

So Nanocom cannot talk to BeCM? Maybe you fried your BeCM with the welding?
If Nanocom can talk to the BeCM have you cleared the RF memory? - I sometimes have to do this to get both my fobs working.

But then he needs to send a valid fob code, with a Fob that dont work that maybe an issue.

Hi,

you all likely know more than me but I had a similar issue a while back and Nanocom
and EKA code got me out of jail.

here’s how I did it (nicked from my previous post):

The nice chap from JLR Historic vehicles came back with a third (different!) EKA code and one for the (long gone) radio.

tried inputting via the lock but no joy.

nanocon, however, is your friend.

Just in case anyone else ends up in this pickle here’s how to do it:

get in car, lock all doors manually.
Key in ignition but not turned
Fire up nanocom and navigate to:
P38/Gems/BECM/Utility
On the last page of utility, there’s the disarm option.
Enter the EKA and press Disarm
If it works, all the doors will unlock and you can resync the key in the usual way (unlock while pressing button for 5, turn to unlock and hold button for 5)
 
As I dont know the workings of the Nanocom I will not even go near comments about what can/cant/should be done but if you search here you will find many conversations on the very subject. (some heated too:eek:).

If I ever reconnect a battery I always leave a door open and put key in ignition 2 position. So maybe worth disconnecting the battery again, leave it for a while then try connecting with the key in (door open;))

What year is the P38?

But you could input EKA with the door card off and a jumper wire.

Yes indeed but "Fob doesn't work" can mean codes not recognised so I use the key-blade" or "No lights on the fob at all"?
From all of the above I am not sure which of these conditions is true TBH.
If the fob lights on the buttons but isn't recognised then clearing RF memory with a working RF receiver and good batteries in the fob should re-set things I think.
If he has non-functioning/non-lighting/DEAD fobs then he only has the key-blade EKA entry option to reset everything or EKA entry via Nanocom.

I too, think EKA via jumpering should work but its a faff and I don't know anyone who has had proven success....are you that man that made it work? :D

Be aware, not all levels of BECM firmware will allow the EKA code to be entered from Nanocom.
