P38A Keeps stalling.

Help My Rangie keeps stalling, Its a 2002 P38 Vogue SE 4.6 Petrol. From cold it starts fine drives OK, when it has warmed up the engine stops at idle and won't restart until it has cooled (about 15-20 minutes). I have changed the fuel pump (twice!) fitted a new fuse box. The ECU has no faults. Any ideas?

Crank position sensor would be a good start to check, had a few with that symptoms, new cps cured it .

What diag is being used as p38`s do not communicate with many.

If it thinks it's cold when it's actually hot, that will cause issues? A bit like pulling the choke on an older vehicle?

When i have watched the liva data the engine temperature looks correct.

I have a bit of Money on the Crank sensor also, try checking for the crank sensor signal dropping out when it's hot - I hit them with some freezer spray and see if it restarts, or 'scope the signal going to the ECU.

Also Pull the Plugs and have a look at them..

+1 crank sensor. They act like that when they get bit dicky

I was wondering about the crank and cam sensors, as they are getting old i will replace both of them.
