Hi folks, I'm new here ;) so saying hello and for starters.....

I'm going to look at a P38 4.6HSE tomorrow evening, it looks a corking vehicle in every respect. The dealer has said though that it's had the Air Suspension removed and replaced with a coil spring kit.

Is this a normal or recommended thing to do? Or is it just a workaround for fixing a faulty air suspension system?

The Rangie won't be used for serious offroading, just crossing the odd wet field or forest track when out rallying, so it shouldn't be an issue not being able to raise the ride height......what do you guys think?

Its a way of getting around fixing the original problem usually by small un knowning garages -
According to a write up in Land rover Owner which was prasing this type of replacement kit - it results in more body roll on the road - My local Independent Dealers relative is returning a coil spring conversion rangy back to the air system.

Personally unless the price is lowered to allow for the reinstatement of the air system for if you feel sea sick in it - I wouldn't touch a coil sprung one.

If it is to perform like it should keep it original

I know what you're saying about originality, it's the only thing that's concerning about this vehicle, although here's a thought, if previous owners couldn't be bothered to spend some bucks to fix a faulty air suspension system what else haven't they bothered with?

mmm, I may be talking myself out of this one, anyway, going to have a closer look tonight. I'll hurl it around a few roundabouts to see what the rides and roll is like and I'll let you know if I chunder. ;)

If it was me i wouldt touch it with some one elses barge pole let alone my own barge pole.
The air suspention is a major part of the p38s performance.
It not only increases ride height for off roading but it also lowers the ride height when cruising thus giving sharper and firmer handling at speed.

Why anyone would want to replace it with coils is in my opinion misguided.

good luck
