hi can any one help me please???
i have a 2000 w reg ranger rover hs, that has duel fuel i have found that the car tickes over all ok but will not rev (if i touch the acc pedal it cuts out )
people have sugested i check all pipes and hoses for splits which i have done and found zero, also people have said it could be a mass air flow meter.
but they are £170.00 from land rover and i dont want to buy one on a hunch
also i can not get the car to the garage to get checked out as i am to skint to pay for a low loader .
has any one had this problem before i so please can they tell me how to sort it out.
as the local dealer is about as much help as brewers drope
(unless your paying them )
the bastards
i have to confess i work for ford and when this happens to a ford its most times down to the idle speed control valve ( do rangers have them fitted
)
p.s if any one here has a ford with any problems please let me know
if you ashamed you can send a private message.:fighting:

I have had same fault! would cold start fine on petrol, then go over to gas when warm just fine and drive ok but hot starting was impossible, it was almost impossible to get the engine to rev high enough to get it onto gas!

So the problem was running hot on petrol, it was the connections to the air flow meter, i removed the plug, squirted some electrical switch and contact cleaner in to each hole, left for a few secs then pluged it back in and hey presto! if you have no cleaner just unplug, plug, unplug, plug in and give it a general wriggle about, lol
I was quoted £200 labour to fit new fuel injectors at £134 EACH by Mr conman t rippoffer, a local guy who i think has since gone out of business! GOOD!!!!

I dont have a ford! lol

Just to add: To pinpoint the issue to your airflow meter leave it unplugged and start the motor. Rev it up and see if there is any difference. If there is no difference then fault lies somewhere else.
If it revs up quite clean then you definitely know it’s the MAF or its wiring.
