Hi all,
I'm new to this forum but it looks great:)
My 1998 p38 has started banging (backfires) and missing on both fuels, when put under load it feels as if it is retarding. I know that the air flow mass meter breather pipe is u/s and a new one is on the way, will this be the fix or should i look elsewhere?
Any advice welcome.
Many thanks

if there are any air leaks on the intake then this could be the issue. i know the lpg kit will not tolerate extra air bieng allowed in.

check the whole intake for splits/cracks.

check the condition of the plugs and leads.

i suspect tho replacing the maf wont cure the issue as its on both lpg and petrol. the lpg system usually ignores the maf.

at night, in a dark place, lift bonnet whilst its ticking over and look for any arcing on coil pack and leads/plugs. you may have to give it a bit of revs to see anything.

Will have to agree with Gav (again) most certainly plugs or leads. I bet you find it lit up like a Christmas tree under there at night.

Have been under the bonnet (in the dark) could not see any arcing or sparking so wonder if a new set of plugs would be good?
