Thinking of changing the tyres to a more on/off road type when the set thats on wears out.

I've seen stuff from general grabber and bf goodrich in 265/65 x 18, would these fit on standard 18" range rover alloys or would I have to get different rims, at the moment it's on 255/55 x 18.

I know it's going to alter the speedo and give more tyre noise etc but I can live with that.

Any one out there tried this or anyone with more knowledge of what size fits on what rims etc, thanks in advance.

Hi. I use a 2nd set of wheels when off-roading. Not convenient but depends on whether or not you are happy to work to avoid compromising either on or off road performance... Anyway I have a set of Kumho 245/75/16s fitted. At this size they are nearly 2" larger diameter, giving an extra inch under the difs. Being 10 ply the extra stiffness seems to cancel the flex from the larger section. They do handle quite well on tarmac without much more noise, but maybe I`m driving less aggressively being conscious of them not being designed for `race-track cornering`? At this size they fit on standard suspension settings, without removing mud-flaps. But any larger `n` I think you`ll be having rubbing problems. Off-road they seem good on mud rock grass etc.

P.S. Don`t think these available at 18" but 16" wheels seem cheap on E--B*y `cause many seem to be buying 20" !! things!!

Yokohama Geolander AT/S

Good all-purpose tires, quite highly rated in the US according to TireRack. I've found street performance to be excellent and used them for light off-roading (muddy tracks, shallow streams, beaches etc) and found especially on muddy inclines that they grip quite well. Really depends how much off-roading you're after. Must add that these really look good on the car, the tread is wicked. I'd say the only minus is that they pick up little stones and gravel like a magnet. And you can then hear those clicking on the road if you don't regularly prise 'em out with an old screwdriver or something.

I'm running GG AT2's which are 18" on my P38. Not really noisey and they are actually quite good on the road!

No complaints from me, and for £106 fitted per corner they were much cheaper than some.

Blimey, I got stiffed for way more than that for mine!
Still, it did mean I could give the awful Scorpion STRs back.
