p38 tickover

hi my tickover is around 3000rpm and i carnt get it down,its a 99v 4.0 lpg and the temp gauge does not move from cold but engine is nice and warm anyone got any ideas apart from torching it

You say the car is a 99my,is it Gems or Motronic injection ?

isnt it the throttle positioner that holds the revs? anybody?

unplugged tps and no differance still revs its tits off on tickover but tps plug has been choped and 3 female spade connectors put on in place anyone know where i can get a replacement plug,is there only one coolant/temp sensor the one situated at front/top of inlet manifold ??????

Had a similar problem with my 4.0, you need to have the adaptive values reset on the computer, it will cost around £40 + vat.

not wanting to state the obvious but have you checked to see the throttle cable or cruise control cable are not jammed. (i had this with mine when i caught the cable when sorting another problem.)
