P38 switched fuses

So I'm trying to convert the EAS auto leveling from permanent +12v to Ign. switched +12v to avoid it discharging the battery and the tank trying to do minute adjustments when parked for longer periods.

I've seen it described before and involves connecting the fused side of the EAS fuse (26 on the 2001 hse fuse box) to a fused tap from a switched fuse feed.

My fuse box appears to have all the fuse positions permanently switched though.

Should there be a switched fuse feed on the 2001 fusebox? Are all the switched fuses under the seat or are all the switched feeds just supplied by the becm

Just swap the EAS relay for a normal relay. It's not the EAS that discharges the battery but the RF receiver amongst other things like the constant 50ma drain from the BECM even when it's asleep. If the EAS is in good condition, it will only attempt to level down about every 6 hours. Buy a 20 watt solar panel and charge regulator, that will keep the battery fully topped up.

It’s under the passenger seat a long thing you’ll see it when you look. Just pull it out will stop it self levelling.
If you have an auto and the BECM is waking up it will make the light on transmission glow. We’ve all done the sitting inside completely silent and motionless while locked watching the bulb thing

we know the way the neighbours look at you afterwards

Oh no, i know where the relay is and I currently pull it out, but it's just not practical to do every day.

I'm trying to do the mod not so much for the battery drain but to stop the system emptying the tank and lowering itself to bump stops overnight. I rebuilt the EAS but still have a small leak from the wiring outlet on a couple of the solenoids. Want to get it fixed whilst I'm waiting for the new solenoids.

So does anyone know of ign switched positions in the 2001 fuse box? I'm afraid of a hard fault if I keep pulling out all the fuses to test

Swapping to a standard relay eliminates the self leveling after the key is turned off and you don't have to pull it out every night

If your going to repair the real issue in the eas system later on, this is the least invasive temp fix

If you do put a standard relay in don't throw the original away as you will ned to put it back in for diagnostics to work

It should not drop to the bump stops every night, mine stay up for 2 weeks or more. Just change the EAS relay to stop self leveling. Whatever you do, it will drop if there is a leak.

No electrical mod will stop this. The self leveling doesnt use air from the tank, It will only level down the air springs and will only get to the bump stops if it has a leak in 1 or more corners.
There is a leak empting the tank.

The leaks are your problem. There should be no air at the wire side of the solenoid(if I remember correctly) if its leaking out there its the o rings under them.

Ok pulling the relay may stop all 4 corners dropping to the stops but 1 or more may still drop and it wont solve the tank leak issue.

Thanks everyone. That makes sense. Would it be a 5 terminal relay or 4?

A standard yellow one as in the under bonnet fuse box, 4 pins.
