Had a strange thing happen today, travelling to work the car lowered its self to motorway level but wouldn`t raise when travelleing at lower speed. Checked it later in the day and it wouldn`t come up from the ground no warning messages on the dash and light on the switch was flashing checked fuses and relay still no luck. So I went to my local garage and it appeared that no power was going to the relay so nothing going to pump, then all of a sudden the pump cut in and raised the suspension haven`t a clue what I did.

Has anyone else come across this problem I was wondering if there was a problem with the dashboard switch.

Had it to the garage again, he says the fuse box in the engine bay is at fault has anyone else had the same problem.

Are you certain that when the vehicle was not raising in height, that the pump was not running?

Taking a long time to raise height is a normal symptom of a depleated air resovior. The depleated air resovior is a symptom of a leka in the system. Now if the pump is not running regardless, then their is another problem.

Might test the overtemp sensor and the pressure switch. A fault with either of these will tell the EAS computer that there is no need to run the compressor. If the EAS computer thinks the compressor is overheated, then the EAS computer will not trigger the pump. The same goes for a failure of the pressure switch.

I have the tester on and live is going to the front of the pump connector but nothing at the back of the connector, so I think its the thermal switch have ordered one and new seals so will try this. Can anyone tell me the best way to depressurize the pump without plugging it into a computer.

The pump is not constant pressurized at the head. If you remove the pump nothing will happen to the pressure in the EAS tank. There is a NRV on the bottom of the EAS Dryer that prevents high pressure from sitting at the head of the air compressor.

I have sorted the problem I hope?

I went to my local specialists TEESDALE LANDROVER and it turned out to be the heat cut out on the pump so new sensor will be fitted this week just for now I have ran the heat sensor to earth just to get me away untill new part comes.

Also while in there for over 2 hours the OBD connector was all green so they sorted that out as well all for £30. If you are stuck in Teesdale these guys are brilliant I rang them up and they just said bring it down really friendly lads.

my rangie had a simillar problem, it would sit in access mode for ages before it suddenly rose to normal ride height, then go back to access and so on. no warnings on dash, local lr garage couldnt sort it either. eventually, it went altogether, warnings, bump stops, the lot.
the garage changed the valve block, problem remained, then i tried changing the driver box which attatches to the valve block.
problem solved, took me half an hour, put the old valve block back on, and, after a load of hassle with them, sold the new one the garage fitted.
