P38 Sunroof won't tilt on LH side

Went to tilt the sunroof today only to hear a loud bang and noticed that the left hand rear coner wasnt tilting up. Pressed switch to fully open roof and all worked well, except that the same corner now won't park level with the roof. Took glass out to see what was happening and noticed that the arm that operates the tilt/park has no resistance and can be moved easily, the one on the right is solid and only moves when the button is pressed. Obviously something has broken but I cannot see anything obvious. Also when trying to "assist" the roof back in to place I noticed that the glass has come away from the metal frame, rust appears to be the cause here. So now I have two issues. Is anyone aware of a repair for this as I don't really want to change the whole sunroof assembly, also, suggestions on where I can a replacement sunroof glass to replace my rather rusty one.

OK, after much searching on the web it seems you can replace each sided guide rail so that will solve one problem. Can anyone recommend anywhere that I could find a 2nd hand glass sunroof?

Mine won't open at all. It have the right side reel stock. The issue is that the manual said that you should open the sunroof to remove it. How do you remove it if it won't open or tilt? Any ideas? Should I forget that the sunroof exist?

have you removed the two cover plates to see the screws? They are supposed to slide backwards to release but if you tug hard towards you they will come off, you should then see the two screws each side. Have you checked you have power to the motor when you press the switch?

The motor try to move it but the sunroof won't move. I try open it manually and it won't move at all. It does feels like it is the right side that is stuck. Can those reels be fix?

Do you have a link for the runners? Mines does exactly the same, good thick bin bag duck taped over the top works fine for now but would like to get it fixed,

Hi DC, to the best of my knowledge the classic Range Rover sunroof mechanism would need to be swapped out rather than just the runners as it's a different system altogether. This would involve taking the headlining out then unbolting the sunroof assembly, removing and replacing.

To replace the runners I have to remove the headliner too? If that so, I think i'll just forget about it as long as it doesn't leak.

Cheers for that I'll have another look at it when i've got more time, it seems one of the arms that raise it up and slides back and forth it not as agile as it used to be

Is it the Left or Right Side Sunroof Rail Broken on your Classic?

Sitting in the drivers seat RHD facing forwards. It's the side directly above, so Right side.
