I opened my sunroof on my 2001 p38 but it will not close electrically , I removed internal light and closed it with a screw driver , then opened it electrically again. After trying this several times have decided it must be the switch because it won't tilt either . Is the switch repairable or where do I buy one from . Thanks guys.

Individual switches cannot, as far as I know, be replaced, it's a whole replacement panel. Taking the panel out and washing the switch out with contact cleaner (NOT WD40) may fix it. Aerocene 50 or Servisol contact cleaner/lubricant is the stuff to use.

You cannot clean the switch unless you remove the switch body from the board and remove the plastic film covering the contact plates, then replace them using double sided tape. This holds the contact plates in place and secures the switch body. Can be done but a bit of a fiddle.

It can be done without stripping the assembly down but is a PITA to do and may need more than one attempt.

Paul, before pulling it all apart, hook the car up to diagnostics eg Nanocom, which will test the operation if the sunroof, and the logic of the switches - assuming you have access

I tried to repair mine and after a lot of footering threw it in the bin and got a new one.
Worth using nanocom to operate it and that will tell you if switch is knackered
