Hi Guys

Please could I have urgent help if possible,

I am stuck in Scotland and my Mate is using my p38 1996 in Manchester

Very quickly,

We had a few problems with low battery warnings in fob, about 4 weeks ago, they old fobs were a mess so I ordered new fob 2 weeks ago.

It has been working perfect brand new fob, never a problem,

he has just been to tesco, and when he got out the car would not lock with the fob, so he used the key to lock it. on his return fob would not unlock so he used the key

Now has a beeping noise every second when trying to start , and the engine disabled press button warning on, he has tried both button but nothing.

he walked to local motorfators who changed batteries but still nothing, the local guy said there is blackspots on the car park which affect fobs, which I find hard to beeleive.

also even with the new batteries the red light on the fob doesn't light up, but to be honest i can't remember if it ever did, it was a genuine new one and has worked perfectly.

He is stuck there at the moment and any help would be appreciated, I can also pay anyone local to Wigan who may be able to go out and help him

Thanks again

If the button isn't turning off the immobilisers then you'll have to use the emergency key procedure. You should've got a 4 digit security code on a business card (also has various bits of useful information on it). You go through the procedure on the back of the card. In the drivers door, turn to unlock position, then lock x amount of times, unlock x amount of times, lock x amount of times, and finally unlock x amount of times. That will disable the immobilisers, until next time you need to start it.

Or phone a recovery firm to tow the Rangie home so at least your mate isn't stranded.

is it a petrol or diesel model? a car park near where i live have these hotspots what has wiped out mine and my parents range rover both within days of each other both of them being diesel models and they need the eka code or a relearn on the becm as i had the sync mate in the car it was easy

Bix

I have on a piece of paper under the drivers seat what I think is the EKA code, he has tried it but I am not sure if he is entering it right it says

Code deleted .....

I have a idea what this means but if someone could please talkme through it step by step, for example do you start this procedure with the car locked or unlocked? does 1 fwd hold mean click forward once then release then hold?

thanks again for your help guys

Its a petrol? just worries me the guy at the motor factors opposite said about the car park as he seen quite a few of these, he suggested pushing it off the car park and re trying, but i don't want him stuck with a p38 half on/off the car park!

If the FOB LED is not lighting, sounds like the factors have put the batteries in upside down or bent the contact tag. Dead spots are a well known problem wher the RF from the FOB is swamped by another RF source, I've even had it on a Honda Blackbird in Spain!

That is the correct procedure. As long as he returns to 12 o'clock each time. So it'd be place key in door, turn to lock, turn to 12 o'clock, turn to lock, turn to 12 o'clock, etc.

If it isn't returned to 12 o'clock each time it doesn't work. 3 incorrect tries and he'll be lock out for 30 minutes.

Also, you might want to edit out your code, as that does give the Intarnets access to your truck.
