Hi,yep another question.Range Rover 4.0hse 2000 model, free play in steering wheel. Its just sitting there, door open, I get in, turn the ignition on and fire it up. Now, i can turn the steering wheel by two inches, when holding the steering wheel with my hands at the 'ten to two' position. There is a wobble, if you like, before the wheels move. Am i right in saying it could be the lower steering column that is worn or a very worn steering box. Thanks for any info

Are you saying that if you fix your hand at the 10 o'clock position, you can move the steering wheel all the way around until your fixed hand is in the 2 o'clock position without effecting any movement on the wheels?

If that is what you mean, that sounds completely un-drivable?!

Mine has free movement of about 1-2in along the circumference, and I thought that was bad!

Check the cross bearing. Might need a tighten or a change. After checking the box and ball joints of course. This could be serious safety issue so if in any doubt, do please get a professional to look at it and keep the receipt!
