Thanks for all the advice on the problem I had about starting my dse.
I have now solved the problem, and want anyone else who experiences similar symptons to do what I did before getting a new diesel injector fitted. The problem was very simple in the end, I kept on looking at the leak off pipes between the injector heads, and wondered what effect they had, so for £4.95 I bought a length of new pipe from Halfords and replaced them. Problem solved..... Turns out one had a slight crack in and was drawing in air. Now it starts first turn of the key, every time, and runs very smoothly at all temperatures.... So be warned, 3 different garages told me it was the injector pump and each quoted me the thick end of £1,000 to sort it. Glad I'm a nosey git!

Hi boberooney,

I've got the same problem. Leak-off pipes are split and leaking. Could you give me some quick instructions to replace the pipes and where to get them?

Thanks

I had the same thing on mine and got the pipes from my local independant LR specialist who charged me £7 for the pipe off the roll. To get to them remove the three allen screws that hold the centre cover onto the engine, this is the one that runs front to rear along the top of the motor. Just slide it out forwards. The pipes can be seen linking each injector each one to the next and the front one then back down to the injection pump. These are a push fit but the pipe will have gone hard and so you may need some longnose pliers to pull them off. Mine fell apart leaving little bits behind on the injectore but these came off with the use of the pliers.
The new pipes then just push on and that's it, job done.
The difference in starting was immediately noticeable on my car with it starting almost instantaneously.
Hope that helps.
