P38 service.

Been a while since I’ve owned and even longer since I worked on petrol anything. Spark plug gap can anyone tell me the what happened it should have been on eurocar parts and they vary in gap size.
I know if the gaps too big spark won’t jump so what is the right size.

What oil is used as well when I get the p38 just going to change everything as going to presume never been done. I normally use 10w-40 but that’s on diesels.

I’m going to do engine oil and filter, fuel filter, pollen, air filter, spark plugs probably diff and transfer box as well.
Can you tell me what oil is in diffs and transfer box and anything I should service while I’m there.
What should I check and do as a preventive.
Sorry for all the questions just trying to get ahead of the game hoping to spend weekend on it.

Welcome, your first mistake was going to the dark side, should have stuck to diesel.

I’ve still got a diesel as my work car but missus has a tiny city car and hates it as it’s tiny. She works 10 minutes from home now so fuel not much of a issue.

First thing you need to do is download RAVE. Links in the technical section. Everything is in the front of that: fluids and capacities, service sheets with check lists and intervals. Instructions on just about everything.

I'd put 20/50 in a petrol myself. @Henry_b has some strong views on oil for the petrol ...

Make and type
Up to 99MY ............................................................. Champion RN11YCC
From 99MY ............................................................. Champion RC11PYB4
Gap
Up to 99MY ............................................................. 0.90 - 1.00 mm
From 99MY ............................................................. 1.00 ± 0.05 mm
NOTE: Do not attempt to adjust the gaps of RC11PYB4 spark plugs.

You can save petrol by lightning a newspaper placed under the driver's seat, shutting the door and walking away.

you made the obvious mistake, didnt you.. its a range rover!! too wet under there for anything to catch

heater pipes, pollen filters, take your pick

So no rave I don’t have laptop just a tablet and not letting me view it. Is there any other way of getting the rave

To be honest Rave on a tablet I find a pita anyway.
It’s really just a collection of all the manuals in 1.

these should get you going there are loads out there, I can’t find the link that has them all in 1 place which basically gives rave in separate manuals.

I know this is totally off track, but it is one of those things that always puzzles me, when someone works so close to home. Why drive? Unless you are rural?
Not judging, just curious.

It’s over a few main roads and she leave just before 5am so she prefers to drive. Plus picks up shopping and stuff on way home.

Thanks for replying. I suppose as I have never been in a similar situation, I've always been curious why some do

EP90 I put in my diffs.
ATF dex iii in my transfer box

Put it on level ground and fill it til it runs out the filler holes. Always undo the filler plug 1st. That way you don’t work out the filler plug is stuck after dropping the oil.
