ive got a 2.5DT, and for the last few months, i think i have had my rangie on the road for about 2 weeks in total. i have so far amassed:

- 2 head gasket sets
- 2 pistons
- new head
- new turbo
- thermostat housing
- clutch slave & full clutch kit
- flywheel
- brake pipes
- 4 tyres

i think i have spent in the region of £4k in the last few months, im sorely tempted to go buy a chuffin mondeo!!!!

pleeeeease, someone cheer me up.

After all that I hope the beast is back on the road but this might cheer you up. On Christmas eve I saw a brand new Range Rover Sport that was parked in a ditch..... parked, fell into it more like. I parked my trusty 2 x 4 Range Rover Classic behind the cleaming new vehicle and offer the driver some assistance. "No thanks he said the dealer is going to tow it back to the garage for repairs because somthing broke when came of the road" Aparently the Range Rover Sport is so comfy the poor chap fell to sleep.

In case you are wondering why I call my Classic a 2 x 4, its simple, the viscous coupling has seized up so I have had to disconect the front axle by removing the front prop shaft. If only I had of known that the shudering and tyre scrubbing was a sign of a faulty viscous unit. But ignoring the signs I drove on until several teeth dissapered from the crown wheel of the front differential and the vehicle started to make a loud banging noise whenever it was driven.

Thus far I have repaired the front axel by changing the differential (second hand) and both CV's (New from Paddock).

While I appreciate that this may not cheer you up at least you know that you not the only one that is suffering.

Once thing I have learnt is that the majority of Land Rover faults are known to the engineers who repair them and it was with their help that the problem was diagnosed. I am now looking for a replacement viscous coupling (Any offers greatfully received).

Meanwhile I am checking the rest of the transmision chain to make sure it does not catch me by surpise again.
