P38 reliability and adventures .....

Well herself had to fly home .... (somebody has to work you know) ......
and there's been an usual break in the weather .......... be rude not to take advantage of that ...........
The beast is still running smooth as a nut ...... head north to the Articd Circle I hear you say ....... sounds like a plan to me (full in the knowledge I might have to leave it here lol)

There is a spot up north called Treriksroset. It the point where Finland, Sweden and Norway meet. I have always wanted to drive there but the wife doesn't much fancy it. Might not be very accessible at this time of the year but sure as hell is a landmark worth aiming for.

Thats a bit of a distance from here ..... hahahaha ...... trying to keep it real in bite sized chunks ..., just planning a route here .... it says the artic circle is only 6hrs drive from here ........ but the weather people say its minus 18 C ..... but no snow forcast ........

Bit of heads up info here ........ Just joined the Norwegian version of the AA on advice from a colleague here ....... the NAF, its 100 quid for the year but its member based, ie they don't need any vehicle details - main thing is there is a phone number to call and they come and get you if it all goes pear shaped.

-18'C shouldn't be a problem, as long as your antifreeze is strong enough and you've got a decent battery!

I'm doing Morocco in my RRC in August but after that I'm heading north to do a similar trip to you, the only aim really being to see the Northern lights...hopefully!

I should add that I drill oil wells for a living and have a temporary assignment in Norway ..... and Im in between assignments.
So the adventure is tied in with travelling for my work ...... and between jaunts, I'm in hotels paid for by the company ........
and ......... they are paying for my fuel whilst Im here.
It also means that at nights the beast gets parked in underground car parks at the hotels ...... makes a big difference to the big freeze stuff.

It also means that should I have to park and dump it ...... I only have to get myself to the nearest office .......

takes the edge off the full pioneering adventurer thing I know ...... but Id better set the record straight ...........

Good on you for making the most of the situation I say! Most people on that sort of business trip would just be sat in the hotel room jacking off to mediocre pay per view p0rn I imagine.

I echo that, wish my job took me places like that ! Il keep my fingers crossed that you get back in the range rover

here's something I never considered ...............
Its minus 11 at the mo ..... tyres are all down about 12 psi .......

duh .... well everyone knows that air expands/contrcts with temp .... just never occured to me that tyre pressure would drop so much ....... anyway, sorted now.

Being a bit low probably isn't a bad thing in the snow to be honest. Not 12Psi low, but a bit would be OK!
