Hi My 97 4.0 Rear Washer Has Never Worked,i Tried Cleaning With A Pin.the Front Work Ok.is There A Seperate Tank Or Pump?thanks Paul

Same pump, same tank, pipework is routed along the left hand side of the car over the rear wheel arch and should have a non-return valve behind the left hand light cluster somewhere. Maybe a crushed or damaged pipe on route, remove the non return valve and see if you get water through as far as that.

I had this problem with my 2001 RR Vogue, it stopped washing more than a year ago, and no amount of coaxing and fiddling could ever get it to work!
Alas now sadly I am now RR free...... have sold the trusy old girl after five and a half happy and mechanicaly trouble free miles......... I am now left with my equally trusty Discovery2 4.0 V8 ES, and to celebrate her being the only LR left in the family have treated her to a professional valet, I had forgotten just how nice she looks when polished!

Hi im new never done this before not really sure how a computer.I have had this problem with my 4.6HSE,there are 3 pumps behind the front bumper, one for the headlight wash wipe, one for the windscreen.one for the rear window.halfords sell a new pump for about £20.you need to remove the front bumper to gain access.hope this is of help. from new member Don Sobey :)

iv'e just fixed mine take the cover off the back window where the motor is remove pipework and blow though with an airline as if you get a big lump in the pin win move it but the water will replace it hope this helps Andy

Did this one last week, pump from ebay for 7 quid (they are all the same - colour coded on the genuine ones). Don't need to take the bumper off , though you will get a wet arm, reservoir is under the off side headlight. Unclip plugs and pull out the pump, it is clipped into the reservoir.
Check the motor first by changing over the plug from the windscreen motor (check RAVE) and push the stalk. Easy Job !
there is also a nonreturn valve by the back near side light that can fail (its tiny)
Sounds like the motor though, mine was completely knackered, now an MOT faliure I beleive.

Hi
'97 P38 DSERear screen washer has never worked : front has now stopped working ( just after I bought a new rear pump !) : about to replace both : can it be done without ytaking the reservoir out ?
( looks like it from what little I've read here so far.)

Yup, they actually locate by clipping into the moulding on the reservoir it's self, so gently lever it out forwards, if there is any fluid in the reservoir it will run down your arm into your armpit.

Good point, well made. By the time I would have worked that one out i would have a wet arm. Out of the envelope and straight under the car, no patience.
