P38 Rear View Mirror Auto Dim

Does anyone know if it is possible the get the part oval cover that hides the wiring on the auto dim mirror? I've not had one since I owned the car and it's not critical but if there is an outlet somewhere I wouldnt mind getting one. Most used ones either come with the mirror or have a lug broken and require gluing.

Im guessing you mean bits 7 & 6...

Number 7 is listed as 'STEM-INTERIOR MIRROR, LH' - CTN100071PJ - £3.50
Number 6 is listed as 'STEM-INTERIOR MIRROR, RH' - CTN100061PJ - £3.50

Im not totally sure which one you need as there is then also part number (not shown in the diagram below)...

COVER, INTERIOR MIRROR - CTN100080PMJ - £1.50

I would go to the dealer and get them to come out to the vehicle, say thats what you want and let it go from there, that way if they get the wrong bit its their fault and not your for directly specifying a part number. If they try and tell you you need to have a whole new mirror you could then refer to the fact you know you can get the bits separately and then bring out the above part numbers but state that you ARE NOT SURE which part number is the right one to put the problem back on their shoulders - they can get a bit 'weird' if you directly specify a part number and when you goto collect its the wrong bit and you wont pay <cough>

Hi Wills, thanks for the info but I think the parts you show are for the classic auto dim mirror, going to the dealers may be the only option possibly

The parts shown are for the 2000 MY and on mirror. I have one of these if anyone's interested. Like new and fully working. But i need one for 1999 MY the one before it changed to the one shown on parts diagram.

I didnt realise they changed the design, apologies Wills, I have the 98 model year so would need the half oval that clips over the fixing face.
