P38 Rear Bumper Removal

I've become a bit stuck while trying to remove the rear bumper off my p38. Ive done everything i believe to be right so far... which includes:

Removing the 2 bolts either side of the tow bar holding the bumper to the chassis.
Removed the wheel arch extensions from the chassis.
Released the 2 leaver clips from each side of the bumper.

But she still wont budge. Does any one have any ideas?

You will find that the pockets where the two blocks with the lever clips fit are probably caked up with dried mud etc. Try giving each side of the bumper a good clout at the wheel arch end. Before refitting, give them a blast with a power washer and follow with a good smear of grease before reassembly.

Thanks for the response. I'll go and give all of that a try! Glad that i havent gone mad and left a bolt unnoticed!

No, its still refusing to budge. Ive given it a good clump, but it still feels fixed. Once those clips are free, is the bumper meant to pull off backwards, or are sides meant to be moved away from the body, and then pulled backwards?

Hi Rich Lad,

I removed mine a couple of weeks ago, the only screws that I missed were behind the mud flaps,once I took the mud flaps off, there were another two hiding behind it......The bumper should pull straight back, might need two of you, one on either side to 'tease each side off rather than just pulling from the back....not much help I know but have a good look around where the mud flaps are for additional screws, also, make sure the tow bar is not stopping the bumper from coming backwards......Are your wires for the electrics for the towbar, cable tied to the bumper etc underneath...just a thought.....

i removed and refitted mine today, no mudflaps on mine so just three screws each side, i think it may be the clips on the bumper wrap arounds causing the sticking, i used a long metal tube (from wheel side) and tapped with hammer, only needed help catching the bumper
