Hey ive bought a p38 dse and have a couple of thing i wanted to ask,

A message pops up on the dash saying fuse 2 fault every few mins, apparently this is to do with the heye seats, the previous owner sed that the drivers has never worked and that the passengwr did but now doesnt!

Does anyone no if theres a way to bypass them so the message doesnt pop up not too bothered about the heated seats working!

2nd fault! The aircon/climate control!

The belt was snapped and the previous owner who i no sed that it snapped about 2 years ago and he has never bother with it as he used it mostly in winter??

He sed that it was regassed about a month or so before it snapped

Ive fitted anothe belt but its not working wid the gas need re gassing???
Also when i press the ac button it flashes for a few seconds then stays on!!

Any help wud be greatly appreciated thank you in advance

On the P38 - the AC Light is OFF when the AC is ON and the light is ON when the AC is OFF....fecking stupid I know - Only Land Rover can design a system where when something is off there is a light to fecking tell you it is off....how dumb is that...

The reason the light flashes when you turn it OFF (light on) means it cannot maintain the selected temperature with the AC system turned off....

Get yourself a copy of RAVE, these are the maintenance manuals, as they also contain the handbooks for the car. RAVE can be downloaded from here: land rover service factory manual RAVE download land rover resource, service manual, workshop factory manual, download, rave, vehicles including discovery, series, defender, range rover, freelander, LR3, Handbooks, Catalog, Catalogue, Land Rover Inte

Press the button so the light is OFF, press the centre of the rotary dial marked AUTO and select LO on the temp display, then wait a few mins.....open the bonnet and check to see if the AC compressor clutch has engaged...if it has and the air is still not cold - could be a regas is needed or the expansion valve is blocked.

If the clutch hasn't enaged, could be a relay/fuse, the dual pressure switch indicating there is no gas charge, or some other fault....

Get the RAVE manuals, there is plenty of diagnostic info in that to check the system through.

Well it won't if the fuse has blown. Probably needs gas when lamp is 'on' aircon is 'off'.

you can just unplug the wires under the seat if with them disconnected it wont blow fuses or cause any faults.
heated seats not working is common the wire which runs around and heats up on the cushion breaks easy fix really but have never seen one cause a fault message or blown fuse!
if it was me i would disconnect both wiring plugs under each seat there is two one for seat base and one for seat back on each seat then replace fuse if the fuse does not blow and you still get the fuse blown message i would be more concerned about the becm!

Hi shud of sed that its a 2000 and the fuse isnt blown and does if seat turned on or off!

Thanks for ur replies

You may have a dead short in one of the seats. L/H seat unplug heater connector C1401, Brown/Red pin 1, Brown/Green pin 3. R/H seat C1403 Brown/Blue pin 1, Brown/Black pin 3. And see what you get.

Hi so with the seats ive disconnected the plugs under the seat but still comes up with fuse2 ect

On the a/c the compressor centre isnt spinning, also ive noticed that when
U press the auto button nothing happens, u can change the fan speed by turning the knob! Fuse is ok

Forgot to say both plugs should be white.

Aircon compressor will not engage if there is no gas in the system.
Fuse fault could be wiring or the BECM or the under bonnet fuse box.
