im thinking of buying a s reg p38 with the bmw motor is there anything i should look out for ,it has a coil spring conversion i have already noticed the heater fan does not work the asking price is £1750
thanks for your help

If you ask me £1750 is a bit much for a coil conversion and a broken heater....

There are plenty around so shop about...

The Diesel can be surprisingly slow, but that being said, will pick up the pace when prodded.

The Diesels have a tendancy not to like starting when hot, this is due to Injector Pump timing chain stretch.

The cooling system needs to be up to snuff as they will overheat if not maintained.

All P38's hate weak batteries, and they also have a perpensity to pick up stray RF signals which drain the battery over a couple of nights...

The usual golden rule is never buy a P38 with faults unless you know what is involved in fixing it and how much it is going to cost.

For £1750 and on coils and with a fault, I would expect a good service history, longgggg MOT and Tax, real good condition and with a good deal of receipts to check it has been well maintained.

I paid just under £4k for a 1999 'V' plate Auto Diesel with 132k miles, 12 month 4* warranty full LR servie history (Confirmed with Local LR Dealer) New MOT, 6 months Tax, New service, in Very good condition.

You pays yer money, yer takes you choice....
