I have seen a P38 on ebay that had a 300 or 200 tdi eng in it, from what i remember it had discovery rear prop and transferbox and adapted main gearbox or vise versa, it was running and driving etc, anything is possible depending on how much time and money you wanna throw at it, good luck.:D

if i use a 3.5 l v8 it should all just bolt up i would think and would just leave the wiring to sort out, only thing i think might be a problem is does the auto box get wired into engine ecu?for kickdown etc or is it independant.i already have a couple 3.5 v8 from my kitcar and these engines dont suffer from slipped liners etc.it seems a shame to break it for parts still got good mot on it

The transmission chooses it's gears based on what the engine ECU tells the gearbox ECU that it's doing.

Not sure how you would reverse engineer that communication. The gearbox gets VERY confused if it loses this communication link.

I vaguely remember seeing adverts for some kind of gearbox control module in one of the landy mags which might get round it...

I would expect a 3.5 V8 would be very sluggish in one of these though - they're not exactly rockets at the best of times and the LR 3.5 was only about 120bhp if I recall correctly...
