Do you know how to treat and respray a bubbly patch I have on the door of my Range Rover p38?
I think it is surface corrosion on the aluminium. It's abot the size of a 50p piece.
What sort of primer would I need?

Please don't tell me off if this has been asked before but I have searched and cant find an answer.

i would suggest using a acid etch primer on aluminium. you can get spray cans of this from halfords.they also do a really good paint matching service.
And no i dont work for them:p
 
i would mask of an area bigger than the repair section,sand and remove all the corosion if it needs filler then lightly fill,and sand level with 1000 grit wet and dry,apply an acid etch primer,colour match with base coat and then laquer,it,s a bit harder for me to explain than it is just to just get on with it

is it rear o/s door (where the bottom window trim meets the metal work) cus i've got one aswell.
must be spreading like swine flu!!!!!!!
 
Mine's on the passenger front door. two spots about the size of a £2 coin. Was thinking of getting a good s/h door and getting the bottom half, everything except the roof, resprayed. Any ideas on cost, if I strip the trim (Bumpers etc.) off myself.

I agree with the proceedures already stated but it's the final finish that's the difficult bit, even if your preparation is spot on, it's still almost impossible to blend-in a small area to any degree of satisfaction. Ok if its your off-roader but on your chelsea tractor its another thing.
I'd recommend you undertake re-spraying the whole door, or at least to the trim line above. You only need to scotch brite the existing paintwork to give the new paint a key. The bit to take care on is the flatting down really well so theres no filler edge showing & flatting down again after primer. I also recommend using anti-scilicone wipes before any paint and between coats, especially if your doing it in a garage where you've run your landy. It will be loaded with scilicone and it plays havoc with repainting. If its a metallic finish, I would consider doing all the prep myself and getting a competent sprayer to put the final coats on.
