Hi
my p38 is overheating after just driving 10 - 20 miles. i have put a new rad on and bled the system, i tried to turn the heating on and the temp went straight in to red and only cold air came out the vents, any idea as to whats wrong?
Thanks
Phil

Hot water is clearly not circulating correctly so you have either got an airlock, a blockage or a knackered waterpump. If you can see coolant coming back into the header tank then your pump is likely ok. Check that the matrix is not blocked. Disconnect the inlet and.outlet hoses and see if you can blow through them. If they are clear the you are left with an airlock. Follow the filling instructions in RAVE and you should be golden.

I'll go with Mr Armstrong there - air lock or knackered water pump. Are you getting water coming out of the small tube that goes into the header tank? If so, the pump is probably OK. However, did you make sure this tube was clear before you bled the system? If there was coolant in this tube, it won't have bled properly.

i think I sorted it :)
there is a second rad in the dash when i turned the heating on it opened a valve which allowed the coolant from the engine to run into the second rad, there was air in the second rad- this caused the overheating an additional 4 litres of coolant and lots of bleeding later and it appears to be solved :)
