My lid can flip 180 degrees, so you can access the holders.
Not sure the normal ones can though..

I mean the leather cream lid/door (2nd pic), or does the holder fit on top?

It’s the same thing it flips over from lid to cup holder.

Up by the mirror, on the roof? by the sunroof itself?
Centre consoles depended on what was spec'd..
quite odd if ya ask me.

Yours is the budget version, same as mine. They're not interchangeable - the whole console has to be changed. Don't bother, the cup holders are a bit crap and in the way anyway. Also, not very strong.
