The gears seem very reluctant to change, switch is in normal mode

could it be an idea to change filter and fluid ? would that make a difference

Fluid is unusually clear ??

Thanks

Fluid should be red
Do you know when it was last changed?
For the cost, I'd do an oil an filter change, then you know it's done and you can see what comes out

No idea when it was changed, and yes thought it should be red ,

Yes I agree, have ordered one already

Thanks

Spoke to the old owner they had it for two years and never changed it I’ve had it for nearly 8 months but it’s been off the road until now so time to do it I think I take it the level when running should be up to the second hole on the dipstick is that correct because when it’s running it’s about inch and a half above that

Sounds overfull.

The level should be higher than normal when its cold with the engine off, the level should drop when up to temp with the engine running..

Change the fluid, 5 litres of DEX III will see it done..

Along with a new filter.

best start praying the sump bolts before hand they can shear.

On the cylinder head ,not sure about a 96 ,but on my 2000 there is a green sensor that tells the gearbox ecu the engine temp ....now when mine was slow ,lazy changing gear i changed the green one and it was better ....The green temp sensor has nothing to do with temp gauge on dash ..o_O

I ha e a ramp so will get it up and spay the bolts today. Also check tnat green sensor. Thanks I don’t like the idea of these bolts sharing off

Have changed the filter abs fluid. But still just as lazy changing gear. It’s mainly up an incline. Revs to over 2.75 before it changes.

is this normal. Does not sound like it.
Have not changed the ECU temp sender yet. One on order Will this make a difference

What color was the fluid and how much came out?

How is it on the flat, on an incline it will hold on longer as the engine is a little underpowered for a 2.25t tank.. On the flat it should change around 1500 to 2000 on gentile acceleration.
I would drop the oil again to flush the rest of the unknown oil out. :)

on the flat it changes as it should with a little help from lifting pedal a bit, just seems way to much revs compared to my v8, i know its more power in that, just seems like its screaming
