Hi all
I went to jack the front up and found the LR bottle jack is dead, practically seized up, although looks like it has had no real use.
Oil leaked out I guess.........

So thinking of getting a trolley jack, but does anybody have any advice?
When changing wheels (or air springs which is planned soon) etc are the 2 ton trolley jacks ok and up for the job? Only lifting a corner at a time, but thought best check. Got to be better than that wimpy looking bottle jack....

A few cheap ones on eBay (Wolf, Liftmaster etc) some cheaper ones come with 3 ton axle stands too. Need chocks (or a stack of bricks), I have read up that much in the forums.

Cheers in advance.

Whilst a 2 ton is fine for emergency, side of the road, tyre changing....I have always found them either too short to get any decent height for working on, or comfortably stable enough when in use....

I use a 2.5 tonne High-Lift trolley jack, then obviously place the vehicle on stands.

I would give the smaller 2 ton jacks a miss and go for a long reach high lift of minimum 2.5 tonnes for safety and stabilty.

Just my opinion...

I've got a Disco 300tdi and used a Halfords 2 tonne jack for ages and it worked fine but as I was under the vehicle and the little weedy jack arm would bend a little it didn't fill me with confidence so in the end I went to Machine Mart and bought a 3 tonne trolloey jack:

Clarke CTJ3000G - 3 Tonne Professional Garage Jack - Machine Mart

It definitley does the job, bit heavy thought so maybe not something to have flying around the boot
