How much / best place to but a pump from guys ?

Mine needs doing at some point , get down to a quarter of a tank it needs a couple of starts to fire up , its slowly getting worse

Local guy said pump around 175 and 125 labour to drop tank and do it properly - 300 all in , that sound about right ?

Check out Island 4x4, britpart pump £41+ vat, bmw £119 = vat approx.

The pump does not run when ignition is turned on unless the glow plugs are lit. On a pre 1999 car it only runs with glow plugs and when engine is running. On a post 1999 car it runs as the pre 99 car but also when the engine is being cranked.

Would the Brit part be any good ?

Saying that and it hadn't crossed my mind before about it being a BMW engine , has anyone got a BMW part number for the pump ? I also own a classic BMW and can get discounted BMW parts

Not if you have any sense. VDO minimum i would think.

Bought mine in 2010 from Foundry 4x4 of Tredegar for £86 ish. They don't list one on their website but it might be worth contacting them. No affiliation to them or Island by the way

Mutz I followed the guide on here search for intank pump replacement on google and it directs you straight to it. It's not a very large hole at all and with the back seats down you can't see it at all.

Look for Canyon's write up on cutting the hole.

Would be helpful if Beasty our pet MOD found Canyons hole cutting post and stuck it in "How to" section. It is an How To bodge a repair, which i don't entirely approve of, better done properly. But in this case it may prevent prospective butchers making a bigger balls up than normal. :D:D

I think he means that Britpart are known as ****part for a reason.
Basically, because there ****, on the whole.
See here for reference http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f16/britparts-have-lasted-238929.html
And here

They have a reputation for a reason, not all parts are crap, but quite a lot seem to be.
Always remember, buy cheep, buy twice.
HTH.

I get that and of course being something important like a fuel pump I wouldn't want Britpart, but I asked for the genuine a part number one ? Or is the oem fuel pump not made by BMW ?
