Help Again!!

I've had my diesel Range in a Land Rover garage for 3 weeks because of it not starting when it's hot. The AA mechanic that originally looked at it when i had broken down narrowed it down to the pump in the tank because of a lack of fuel getting to the fip from the filter housing. The garage replaced the pump with one i had bought and no change so he replaced that pump with one that he had bought.......no change. He supposedly changed the pipe from tank to pump, the filter and housing, the pipe to fip,the stop solenoid on fip and still no change. He's now saying it's the fip itself.....is it possible?????????

Hot starting issues on the Diesel are well documented... have you done a search?

Will it not start AT ALL... or does it just take a long time to start?

If there is no fuel getting to the filter, how can it be the FIP? That's after the filter. If the in tank pump is not working, might be a good idea to check that there is power going to it when the glow plug lights are on.
It would also be worth checking the under bonnet fuse box for signs smells of burning.

no fuel to pump no bang, simples try to find out why pump is not pushing fuel to fip, 3 weeks and still not fixed = try another garage.
seems to be electrical could be fuse box issues, these eat their fuse boxes fip can be a cause of hot start troubles, mine has the same issues, but i would look into getting the fuel to the fip, first point of call remove car from garage before imminent bankruptcy.

Hello everyone. I have removed the Range from said garage and it is now being cared for by a very reliable mechanic. I started the vehicle with no problem this morning, drove it 3 miles to the new garage, stopped in the car park, engaged reverse and the engine died. I tried to start it again but all it does is turn over and over and over. If i leave it until the engine is stone cold she will turn over and start as it did this morning.

Take a look at the ECM coolant temperature sensor.

Hi Wammers, thanks for that. Could it possibly be the crank sensor?

Stick it on some diagnostics you may get a better picture, we can make guesses all day. ECU coolant temp sensor is a known causer of bad starting. Hot or cold. It's worth a look at. Lots of reasons for bad hot start on these engines. Looking at live data may help. Timing modulation etc is a tell tale as to FIP timing. If that is a long way out, due to stretched chains, that could be the problem. I have outlined my thoughts on this in another thread recently.
