:confused:G,day

I am new on this Forum. My P38, Great to start when cold or warm, But when hot long time to start, It has a hot box connected. I believe to problem is down to the wear in the fuel pump.
Do I bite the bulit and relace the pump? Has anyone had this trouble and replaced the pump with no further trouble. It has me thinking I may as well do the injectors too as the MPG is shocking only 18 mpg.
Any relies will be most appriciated.

As far as I know it is caused by the timing chain stretching and you static pump timing is now out I think getting the timing checked and adjusted wi sort it
Do a search on here as it is well covered

Cheers guys, Fianally got down to the true cause. After adjusting Pump timing which was 20 degrees out, no change with hot start or perpormance, Rigged up gauges to test pump flowand pressure, found pressure to drop off when on demand. Threw new pump and injectors at it. Now goes like a train, getting the full performance from the remap it has and removed hot start box which was fitted, now not required. Makes me happy man but with less money on the hip.

Would love to know how you arrived at a definitive 20 degrees, as degrees of timing are not measurable. Timing is done on cam lift not degrees. If it was a long way out suggest you take a close look at the timing chains.
