I recently bought a 1996 P38. Great car works great. Only one thing ... glow plug light is always on. Relay is working fine ... time is ok. Signal from ECM going to the BeCM is ok... time ok there too. But Im stuck there ... bus ...from the BcCM ... going to the Instrumental panel. Any ideas?
P38 Glow plug light allways on.

Does it have a 'Hot Start Fix' box of tricks??
As some of these are not timed and alters the fuelling and glow plugs to be on continuously...but in saying that surely the glows would turn off via the glow relay once the engine is running...!!!
if you have one fitted, it could be U/S and causing this fault.

If the glow plug relay is working and the glow plugs are switching off, then the fault is either in the instrument panel, the wiring or whatever controls the light be that the EDC or BECM. Would have to look at RAVE to identify the signal source.

On Merc sprinters the glow plug light comes on after starting to tell you that one or more glow plugs aren't working. Dunno if it's the same on RR's.

No hotfix .. I live in Iceland ... don't need it ... all plug where changed few months ago ... and I've measured them ok. Relay seems ok all plugs light up and go out after approx 7 sek. There is as signal from ECU to the BeCM for the glow plug ligth and I've check that ..ok. So it must be from the BeCM to the Instrument panel and and I think there is a Bus between them. I haven't open anything on the dashboard ... I believe it is in the BeCM ... relay or power transistor inside there ... was hoping someone had some similar problem with a dashboardlight
