p38 front lights up grade

hi everyone i'm new to this site so here goes, i've owned a range rover p38 for two years and i always wanted to put upgrade lights on it, can anyone help me with information on how to convert the L322 lights onto a p38, i've got the lights i just need some help with fitting them. thanks

You need to get them converted as they are not straight forward. The L322 lights have other functions that can be controlled by the RR's console.

Buy them from someone that has already done the conversion process then fit to the car as normal.

Simmonites is a good place to call but others do the conversions aswell. Phone around for best price.

There was an advert on EBay for a full conversation, including side vents for £3000. This included the lights etc. It might be worth contacting the seller.

That's Rogersons and as far as I'm aware thats a basic Range Rover Sport conversion. I personally like the lights but when I see a proper L322 RR, I realise I still prefer the L322's look. But at £3000 thats WAY WAY WAAAAY overpriced.

Therefore I suggest you talk to Paul Smith at Range Over and get a full L322 conversion with bumbers, grille, headlights (with or without wipers) and side panels with the L322 vents.

For £4500 you get a FULL back and front L322 conversion with a paint job thrown in.

Which is what I will be doing sometime in the future.

so thats a converted p38? thats amazing... thats 4500 price tag surely dosnt include the wheels or does it?

I wish! But they do offer wheel options if you wish to upgrade your rims and tyres at the same time.

To complete the L322 look you may wish to buy official LR L322 rims anyway....my advice is to keep to 20" or under....22's look a bit weird on a Rangie.

Also these guys do a similar job, if thats really what you want.

When I have some money, so am I! The thing is that if you want a L322, you need to buy the 2004 model onwards due to serious problems teh 2002-2003 models have.

The cost of a L322 2004 plate is about £24-26K and I just dont have the money for one.

This way I get a L322 for £4500 plus the cost of the donor car which is most cases is going to be around £10K for the full kit back & front.

Look at the photo's carefully.

The lights slope forward

On the L322 they are nice and square to the wings, the conversions don't fit properly.

With all the problems with P38's, why buy into more problems.

Just sort the wheels !!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Bugger me Teddy can't put at deposit down on a car and you guys are blowing the equivelent on what he was going to spend on a vehicle.

The reason the L322 kits were created was for P38 owners to have the latest RR look for cheap.

I dont think its a bad idea at all.....if you have the cash go buy a £26K L322 but if you dont this kit is a good way to cosmetically change the P38's back and front and "keep up with the Jones's".

Its not for everyone.....

Okay, so the lights are £4.5k, set of wheels and tyres £1k.

Total investment £5.5k, thats a 20% deposit on a £26k car.

If we are being honest we shouldn't spend the money, it wont perform any better, it wont drive any better and i'll be 4.5k worse off and thats just silly, however having put a new engine (£3900, dont go there), and having the box recond and being ripped off (£1500) and getting new fuel pump i did not need (£350) and lpg, £1800, uprated gas shocks, radiator, wheel bearings, blah blah blah........ i'm never selling the car as i'll just lose a fortune and the new ones have nothing on them that i have'nt got now apart from a button to remove all driver skills (When i was towing people in the snow earlier this year Clarrissa stops in a lovely 322 and rolls down a window to reveal perfect makeup, stunningly attractive face and ask's (in 4 inches of snow)

So over the next 34 years it won't cost much (if i'm allowed to drive it of course) and i'll still like looking at it as i only bought it for me.
We are not here forever, allow us a little indulgence as i am spending my Sunday helping Sirius with his window faults on his classic.

Just one more thing to consider, then you can order it all up.

Just suppose you ran into the back of someone, yep, it's you fault, okay you are insured for the other party,but who's going to pay out for a P38 with a £4.5k front grill.

Answer this and I'm convinced it will be worth it ( until you want your money back when you sell it ).

The insurance company when i get an agreed value, done it with the stage 1 and the the beetle and the 1968 fletcher, ( I'm not selling it ).

There are allway's somethings that appeal to some peaps, and I wont have a go at them for what ever they like the look of.

I would say though that if you intend to keep your 38a for a while, save the dollar for the inevitible bite in the arse that could be on its way at some point.
