Playing on my mind that crash sensor/s were moved at some stage either from front of car to bulkhead or from bulkhead to front. Can't remember which way round. But if Keiths 96 has them at the front maybe they were moved to the bulkhead on later models. Have a look around there. Not very sure though. ALL the schematics i have indicate they should be behind headlamp.

So a new ECU should sort the problem out then?
Have you actually got the SRS light on? Have you checked both bulbs are working? If one fails the other will light.
Who did the diagnostics?
SRS ECU's rarely fail.
I'd do some checks before spending on a replacement ECU (which would have to be the same part number as yours), if diagnostics said a front sensor has failed, I'd be very suspicious of the diagnosis as there seem to be no front sensors..

Not all Tony, my RAVE for MY 2000 gives 2 options, one has the sensors at the front, the other has the sensor internal to the SRS ECU.

I don't have 2000 RAVE at the moment just up to 1999. Lost a lot of stuff when comp hard drive fell apart. Thought i had seen it somewhere, maybe that is what he has.

yea srs light on plus comes up on screen airbag system fault diag was done at local garage i know a few people with LR and RR that use him he does have right machine to do diag on as far as i know

Update Just spoken to LR mechanic apparently after 2000 and including 2000 models front sensors where only fitted to north american models thr front sensor in internal to the ecu and would show up as front sensor on a diag machine and seems they are known to go for no reason. Hope this helps anyone else with problem best thing is i ordered front sensors off ebay they just landed through door hehe typical :)

For once RAVE is correct then.
Tony, I've checked the front bulkhead and there are no sensors located there.

Thanks Datatek for your help need to find the 2000 rave now as well mine is 1999 so hence reason mine didnt help

We live and learn, no sensors there on my 2000 either:confused:
No idea where the feck they are:(
Just checked RAVE and it implies that there are 2 systems, distributed which has 2 front external sensors and single point where the sensor is internal to the SRS ECU. would seem like the later cars have the cheaper single point system so your fault will be internal to the SRS ECU.

Hence my post above, not sure thy all had them....single detection or double...:D:D:D
