Today the P38 decided to mod itself into a straight through exhaust. What's the best way to fix it? And are there any cons in driving around with it besides the noise? Thanks.

MoT failure to have a leaking exhaust. How loud is it?

You can buy bits on ebay pretty cheap normally. If you are prepared to fit yourself it shouldn't cost much, but exhausts can be horrid to mess about with.

Just a bit of rattling noise of the pipes at a certain rpm, not the exhaust itself. The MOT luckily isn't til late autumn so there's time to fix it.

This is very good value for a stainless steel exhaust system. Unfortunately they don't do a stainless front box so I had to get a regular mild steel one.

There seems to be a conversion done by a previous owner, the wide part that was supposed to be a silencer was replaced with a regular pipe and it looks usable still. Seems to be attached with bolts. I'm wondering if it's possible to get just the curved broken pipe to replace?

If you were in France, a non conforming exhaust would be an MOT test failure.

Perhaps you could visit a custom exhaust builder, like Powerflow, and get a stainless system fitted. You can tell them the noise level, eg “mild sporty” or “quiet”, and choose from a selection of tailpipes. I have used them in the past, they are really good.
