EAS has started being a nuisance again.

For about 15-20 minutes after starting the suspension goes to fully up.

Then it drops to normal height, and everything is perfect again. Could this be sticky valves in the valve block?

No.

I don't understand how they can be faulty, then "fix" themselves after a short drive. Also, would all four go wrong at the same time?

once it's fixed itself, I can move it up and down the any position and it's all working well...

The EAS system self-levels the suspension, so I would guess if one sensor was faulty it would send all the others out as they try to level the suspension for you?

Similar thing happens if you have a leaky airbag when you park up - one corner goes down and all the others follow.

Having said that, I'm not sure how it would 'fix' itself after 15-20 minutes. During the time it's in high mode, can you select any other height settings?

If you don't have it already it may be worth contacting Datatek for a lead and downloading the software online so you can reset the EAS yourself.

I have a reset dongle, but it's not needed. It doesn't throw any errors! No 35mph or anything

If you get the full software you can watch what the system is doing. The 'dongle' as you say only re-sets faults. If a height sensor is mis-reading but within limits then it won't record as a fault.

Take the exhauset silencer off the valve block and look for traces of white powder. Could be your air dryer is breaking up, I've had this on a couple of cars and it caused all sorts of weird problems, in both cases the diaphragm was totaly clogged with the stuff. Cleaned up the valve blocks, fitted new "O" rings and diaphragm and the problem went away.

Back to report !

I checked the filters on the valve block.. all ok.

So, with heart in mouth we set off for a trip to the UK. I expected that the EAS would settle down after 20 minutes or so, and all would be well.

Not so.

It insisted on going high constantly, and I was forced to stop at every service area to reset it. After 6 or 7 stops, I decided just to let it be high, and we drove back to the uk with it like that.

First thing next morning I had a meeting so despatched my wife off to Mark Smith & Co in Bicester.

They diagnosed a faulty valve / valve block, but couldnt figure out which and so replaced the entire assy with a second hand one they had in stock for £75.

They also did a few other non related things, and at a great price. I can't recommend them highly enough. I used them previously when I had a Disco, and they were good then as well.

EAS has been perfect since. Goes up and down really quickly :)

Thanks all here for helpful suggestions.

So you might like to think about replacing your air dryer (£15) because I would bet the the dessicant breaking up was the root cause of the valve block playing up:)
