i took my 1998 4.0ltr range rover out today and all the lights came on on the height display, and the dash said eas fault,do not exceed 35 mph, and the car sign with the arrow lit up.it also bleeped, and would not raise up.
does anyone know what all this means (i know that its obviously broke)but can anybody shed any light on this please.
also i need to take it a specialist tomorrow.can i exceed 35mph or will it damage it more/
please help.
thanks

It's not the speed that hurts it's the bumps.
Mine kept lighting up and dragging its ass and my friendly neighbourhood mechanic cleared the fault twice and on the third occasion he found it was a ride height sensor,.
£75.00 and she's fine now. Hopefully that is all it is. Find a local mechanic with the software and laptop as they will be tons cheaper than a RR dealer.
Mine didn't charge for the two resets.
Good luck

No it won't damage it just watch the bumps..... and your speed.
The whole weight of your RR is on rubber bumps and when you hit a pot hole in this mode you nearly fly out of the seat. Keep the speed down and watch the pot holes and you'll be ok.

that drive was dreadful.you wouldn't believe how bad that was, unless youve experienced it.felt like the back of the car was going to fall off

If you're worried about it happening again, for about £80 or so you can buy one of these and keep it in the glove box:

Range Rover EAS Reset Tools

It will reset EAS faults in a couple of minutes while you're out and about. Well worth having one available.......
