:wtf:

Evening all.

Just popped out to go and pick up the missus and the Range wont start! I did over 300 miles in it yesterday and parked up now its turning over and not starting.

I took the derv pipe off the filter and cranked it and theres plenty of fuel flowing when i turn the key.

Anyone got any ideas? Its been fine no issues over the past months I'm not sure whats up with it?

Read a couple of other threads about immobiliser issues and using syncmate, could this be the issue?

If so does anybody live near SE London with a syncmate before I go and buy one? happily pay for using it.

I dont think so.

It def doesn't say engine disabled but it did come up saying airbag fault while i was turning it over.

If engine was disabled it would say so on the dash and the engine would not turn over. Most likely lost sync.

Cheers wammers,

Been searching multiple forums and they are all pretty much pointing at the sync issue.

My passenger door lock is buggered as well. Dont unlock on the fob but the button on the passenger door unlocks and locks all the doors. Would this contribute to the sync issue? I read on a forum that it could be the cause of a sync issue.

Doesnt sound right to me but the electonics of the range rover baffle me a little lol.

While you are waiting, check the ignition relay (I know it's a diesel) in the under bonnet fuse box by swapping with another of the same colour and while you are at it check the fuse box for signs/smells of burning. You could also check the connections to the stop valve on the FIP.

Can't say really, usually low battery volts that causes the lost sync. Mine has lost sync twice both down to battery failure. Once when the old battery died a week out of warranty which is ridiculously common for some reason. Then once when the brand new battery lost a cell three weeks later. New 115 amp fitted no problems since. You should always fit the largest capacity battery you can get in the space available if you have a doozel. Particularly on a P38.

Cheers Guys this is all a great help.

If knackered the battery now anyway so ill go and get a new one and my friends boss at a garage has agreed to lend me their snap on reader for an hour so at least i can see if theres any fault codes like the crank sensor.

Ill check the relay thing as well.

Good luck. New battery will hopefully solve. Cam sensor also possible although crank sensor is more likely candidate. Hopefully you just need to re sync after weak battery.

Right well I've plugged in the scanner and the only fault code present is number 27 which is a security system. Looks like the passenger door lock being buggered has forced the system out of sync.

Managed to get a sync mate off a lovely chap on ebay who agreed to end the auction early and that will be here tomorrow so fingers crossed as previously said by you chaps its just gone out of sync.

Thanks for all your assistance I will let you know how it goes.

PS. If anyone in London or Kent ever needs to use a sync mate just let me know and I'll bring it over. I also have an old laptop with the EAS software on it which I'm also happy to assist with.

the cars now back up and running.

when I put the new battery in it popped up saying the key code lockout or something which panicked me but when I plugged in the syncmate that disappeared and the car started so all good!

Thanks for all your help.

Looking over the forum Ive now noticed some other issues with mine like some others are having. mainly around the fuel pump and the engine loosing power when changing gear. Oh the fun the P38 brings lol!

Hey there! i have the same problem it seems..after changing battery the car won't start (no problems getting in)..perhaps you want to email me at [email protected] if you still have that syncmate? (i have a diesel though / think these ones will be different for different models) Thanks!
